Why We Love Facial Oils
We love, love, LOVE facial oils here at The Clean Beauty Edit. They are a firm favourite because they can make an immediate difference to the look and health of the skin. In fact, we like to think of them as the ultimate skincare secret. Why is that, you ask? Because when you compare them to a cream moisturiser, you need very little - just a few drops after cleansing will leave skin luminous, soft and plump, needing less make up and skincare products overall. We find that our skin looks so glowy and healthy when using oils that we end up using less make up too, and the oils tend to be so versatile that they can also be used on hair, lips, eyes and cuticles too (cutting out the need for separate products and streamlining our bathroom shelf).
Facial oils will help to calm, hydrate and brighten the skin and are ideal for sealing in water and forming an additional protective barrier, especially during the colder, harsher months. The reason facial oils have endured for thousands of years (the ancient Egyptians loved Moringa Oil), is that they are easily available, visibly effective and you can usually see some benefit immediately after use. You have got to love the texture too which feels wonderfully luxurious and comforting on the skin, meaning that those who love using facial oils usually remain very loyal to their favourites, buying them time and time again.

We love this time of year here at The Clean Beauty Edit. The leaves are changing colour, it’s getting cool enough to wear our beloved cosy boots and sweaters, and pumpkin spice lattes are suddenly a thing again. To keep our skin and hair looking it’s best throughout Autumn and the winter months we need to tweak our routine slightly from what it was during the warmer summer. We like to add in a little more moisture, and protection, and experiment with bolder makeup choices for a more sophisticated and pulled together look.
Thankfully there has never been a better time for clean and green beauty. Formulations are now so high-tech and luxurious to use that conventional beauty is hardly able to keep up with the ever-growing clean beauty community. Whether it’s your hair looking a bit lacklustre, or your skin feeling a little less radiant, as October rolls in, there’s a clean beauty fix that will have you looking, and feeling, your best in no time! Most of the products we have listed in our guide below are vegan and organic and work on any skin type, at any age. Instead of endocrine-disrupting preservatives such as parabens and phthalates, harsh synthetics, GMOs, synthetic fragrances etc. the natural and organic beauty brands that we stock here on TCBE focus on superior quality, nourishing botanicals and natural oils that support and enhance skin health. You can also feel better about your beauty buys knowing that, not only are they safe for the whole family, but that here on The Clean Beauty Edit you will only find brands who are committed to sustainable practices throughout their entire creation and distribution process, and all products are cruelty-free.
Choosing natural and organic skincare that is rich in plant actives and high quality, non-toxic ingredients will help you to balance your skin, enhance your natural glow and promote radiance without harsh chemicals and preservatives. Autumn is the perfect time to add in nourishing oils and superfood serums to your beauty routine, to lock in moisture and protect your skin from the elements. The clean beauty brands that we stock on The Clean Beauty Edit – from The Organic Pharmacy to Olio E Osso, Antipodes, Evolve Organic Beauty and more – each create World-class, non-toxic skincare from scientifically proven and ethically sourced natural ingredients, and the products are so beautifully packaged and feel decadent to use. We know you'll love them!

HOW TO LOOK FOR THE RIGHT ORGANIC SKINCARE
A Q&A With Nicola Connolly of Nunaïa
There can be a lot of confusion around what organic skincare and beauty actually means – can you break it down for us?
Definitely. It probably helps to start by explaining that natural skincare products use ingredients that are found in nature like plant oils and butters and animal by-products like beeswax and lanolin. Organic skincare products are made with these same natural ingredients but they go a step further, as these ingredients are also organically farmed ingredients. This means they are ingredients that are sourced and farmed without genetically modified ingredients, herbicides or pesticides, synthetic chemicals, dyes, fragrances or animal testing.

Why Everyone Is Talking About Hyaluronic Acid?
Although it sounds as though it’s something that comes out of a lab, hyaluronic acid is actually a molecule that is naturally present in our bodies but declines with age. Lack of natural hyaluronic acid can lead to dullness, sensitivity, fine lines and uneven skin tone. Thankfully you can now apply your hyaluronic acid in the form of effective serums, lotions and even via your cosmetics. It is one of the most effective ingredients available for moisturising skin.
On this week's blog post we discuss what it is, how it works and give our top beauty picks containing this natural wonder ingredient.
